Ecco
Qui, which translates to “here it is” in
Italian, opened in May of 2004. Owner Joe Scarpa
is not a stranger to University City having
owned and operated Allegro Pizza’s first
downtown Philadelphia location at 36th and
Chestnut in 1980. Shortly thereafter in 1982,
Mr. Scarpa opened the Allegro Pizza location on
Penn’s campus. Having owned and operated as many
as twelve pizzerias in many regions he expanded
his experience in restauranteurship with the
creation of Allegro Grille which opened in 2001,
a full service dining experience in Maple Glen,
Montgomery County. Three years later an
opportunity to create a full service restaurant
back in his base, University City, arose and
“here it is”, Ecco Qui. |

Located in the Left Bank
building, Ecco Qui strives to provide a blend of
Italian cuisine, Latin influences, fun food and
an eclectic bar in a casual atmosphere located
on Drexel University’s campus. The focus of the
décor is on Philadelphia and Drexel pride.
Complete with illuminated replicas of the
Philadelphia skyline along the soffits in the
dining room, Ecco Qui is a fun bistro to come
for lunch, after work, dinner or an evening of
socializing at the bar. The bar, complete with a
Cruvenet which offers an impressive selection of
wines by the glass, also offers an incredible
martini menu. During warm weather, patio dining
is offered along Chestnut Street. |
